A paper formatter should understand the rules it is applying.
The research paper product is being shaped around the same principle as the thesis formatter: automate repeatable formatting, preserve authored content, and be explicit about anything the engine does not support yet.
Formatting that understands structure
Body typography, page geometry, headings, running heads and reference list layout are handled from the selected academic style where support is verified.
Preservation before automation
Authored text and fragile Word structures stay behind the same preservation checks used by the thesis formatter.
