What this rule means
The body font and size are the typeface and point size that most of your text uses. Headings, captions and footnotes are separate.
The checker reads the font and size that most of the body text uses.
What each rule set asks for
Each row is the rule set the TypesetOS checker applies, taken from the guide linked in its last column. Open the school’s own page for the full list of rules.

Fix it in Word
Steps in Word (Windows and Mac)
- On the Home tab, right-click “Normal” in the Styles gallery (Control-click on a Mac if right-click does nothing) and choose Modify.
- Choose the font from the table in the font box and the size in the box next to it, then click OK.
- Text that still looks different has its own formatting. Select it and press Ctrl+Space (Control+Space on a Mac) to clear it.
- If your body text uses another style, for example Body Text, modify that style instead. The Styles gallery highlights the style the cursor is in.
Microsoft’s own instructions:
Then check the file
Run the free format checker on the saved file to see whether this rule now passes. It names what it checked and what it could not check. It does not decide whether your school will accept the file.
